By reconstructing the evolutionary history of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that is responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, an international research team of Chinese, European and U.S. scientists has discovered that the lineage that gave rise to the virus has been circulating in bats for decades.

A condition which causes deformity of the hand – leading in the most severe cases to impairment and disability – can now be successfully treated by using drugs developed in recent years for the treatment of different forms of arthritis, researchers at the University of Glasgow have found.

The University of Glasgow, in collaboration with the NHS and Scottish tech companies, will lead a £3.37m project to transform bowel cancer screening in the UK by developing a precision diagnostic tool that uses artificial intelligence to predict which patients will develop future polyps and tumours.
