Glasgow Caledonian University is set to host the 2025 Global Game Jam (GGJ), marking its 16th year of celebrating creativity and collaboration in game development.

This will mark the 16th year the University has participated in the worldwide celebration of creativity and collaboration in game development. Since first joining the initiative in 2009, Glasgow Caledonian has been a proud supporter of the event, providing a vibrant venue where students, professionals, and enthusiasts come together to craft unique gaming experiences.

The free-to-attend 2025 GGJ will begin at 5.30pm on Friday, January 24, and run continuously until 5.30pm on Sunday, January 26. Following the game-making session, there will be an opportunity to showcase and play the completed games from 5.30pm to 7pm on Sunday. The event will take place at the Student Association Building on campus.

Participants of all backgrounds and skill levels are invited to join, whether they are first-time jammers or seasoned developers. The event is open to anyone aged 18 or older, including students from other institutions, industry professionals, and members of the public with a passion for game creation. Attendees may participate individually or as part of a team, and those arriving solo will have the option to be matched with other participants to form teams.

Alongside the core game-making experience, additional activities will include game tournaments and quizzes.

Hamid Homatash, Senior Lecturer in the Applied Computer Games at Glasgow Caledonian, said:
