Glasgow hosted the All Energy Conference and Exhibition in May, which attracted 7,000 delegates and 450 exhibitors from 20 countries including Canada, China, the Czech Republic, India, Indonesia and Lithuania.
The city will continue to lead conversations on green innovation and sustainability by hosting the first Scottish extension to this successful innovation platform in June.
Cleantech Innovate Scotland 2015 is organised by Glasgow-based ecoConnect CIC, the UK’s green industry business network, which connects individuals and companies working in the low carbon sector by providing essential links to investment, business support and industry expertise.
Renewables conference organisers continue to give Glasgow a resounding vote of confidence as the chosen host destination for meetings in this sector as the city continues its aspirations to become one of Europe’s most sustainable cities, declaring 2015 as its Green Year.
Glasgow was one of only four cities to be put forward to secure the prestigious accolade for European Green Capital in 2015. The award is designed to reward cities leading the way with environmentally friendly urban living. Glasgow’s shortlisting highlights the significant progress that has been made in recent years by adopting a collaborative approach to working.

“The Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC) – the University of Strathclyde’s new state-of the-art facility – is the perfect Scottish launch pad to showcase the inaugural year of Cleantech Innovate Scotland. The TIC building mirrors the objectives of the conference – to stimulate relationships across industries with one goal in mind – collaborative innovation.

Fergus Ewing MSP, Minister for Energy, Business & Tourism will be keynote speaker at the event on June 4. He said: “The first Cleantech Innovate Scotland presents a great opportunity for companies in Scotland to showcase their pioneering solutions being developed in the cleantech sector and to collaborate and network with investors.
“The transition to a low carbon economy presents enormous economic opportunities for companies to develop and implement new technologies. The Scottish Government is committed to supporting businesses across Scotland to realise these opportunities.”

More than 200 industry leaders will travel to the city from across the UK to attend the conference at the newly erected Technology and Innovation Centre on June 4. In its third year in London and first in Scotland, Cleantech Innovate showcases early stage companies that, with the right investment, they will underpin Britain’s green economy.
