A Glasgow-based tech company have written and recorded a Christmas tune to ‘raise spirits’ this festive season.
Layer Systems, based in the city centre, created a ‘tech-related’ song, Christmas In The Cloud, earlier this month.
The song has since been posted on Spotify, which can be listened to HERE.
Alongside the creation of the song, the team also made a music video to accompany the festive tune.
The video was recorded around the streets of Glasgow and was recently posted on YouTube.
The video included cameos of the city’s most famous spots including the George Square Christmas fair, the Duke of Wellington statue and Princes Square.
Nick Kewney, chief technology officer and co-founder of Layer Systems said
“We wanted to do something as a team, that would do something for others.
“We have such a remote team, and with the pandemic and the cost-of-living, we just wanted to raise spirits and do something silly that could bring everyone together.
“And we thought it would be really fun to record a song and film it around the city.”
During the recording of the video, the team came head-to-head with a Christmas legend.
Nick said: “We came across Santa on a bike, and asked him if he would be up for being in the video.
“So, we chased him through the Royal Exchange Square whilst he was on his bike and used that in the video.
“The whole video was great fun, and it’s very rare in this environment and business to do something like this.
“But, the whole team were really up for it and just let their hair down.”
The video has already gained over 1,000 views on YouTube and has been liked almost 100 times.
The team plan to use any proceeds gained from the song, either on Spotify or YouTube, as a donation for Cash for Kids.
