Umran Ali Javaid, a Tourism and Events postgraduate at Glasgow Caledonian University, is hosting Fun For Life Fest on 2 August at Tollcross Park.
he cultural festival, featuring live music, comedy acts, and creative workshops, aims to attract 15,000 attendees and raise funds for 15 ambulances to aid refugees in war-torn regions.
His initiative is supported by GCU’s Entrepreneurial Hub, which offers mentorship, workspace, and funding opportunities for students and alumni.
Members of the Hub, which is open to students, staff, and alumni, can access dedicated workspaces, meeting rooms, and the opportunity to secure seed funding.
Umran, who has driven more than 40 second-hand emergency vehicles to conflict zones including Gaza, Ukraine, Myanmar, Syria, Iraq and Yemen, said:
“The Entrepreneurial Hub has been very good. I’ve been able to set up business meetings here and meet a lot of professionals.
“I’ve also been able to meet mentors, who deliver talks here, and learn something new all the time.”
Some of the proceeds from the festival will be used to buy 15 ambulances to help people in need in conflict zones around the world.
