DataFest17 is set to further catalyse activity across Scotland and showcase the country’s leading role in data on the international stage.
It’s the first time the Data-focused festival has taken place in Scotland and it will provide fantastic opportunities to learn from renowned international speakers, case studies & best practice, while offering an unprecedented networking platform for interacting with local & international talent, industry & academia & data enthusiasts.

Events include:
Data Summit: Focusing on #DataChangesEverything, the two day Data Summit will explore leading examples of successes and challenges of transformation using data, with a forward look to how this will develop across industry and social sectors in the future. Speakers include Dr Hannah Fry (BBC Joy of Data), Marc Preistly (McLaren F1), Hilary Mason (Fast Forward Labs), Tim Harford (Radio 4), Cath Calderwood (NHS Chief Medical Officer) and many others.
Data Talent Scotland: Data Talent Scotland is an annual collider event that brings together postgraduate data science students, data enthusiasts, universities and businesses from across Scotland. The event connects new data talent and education with industry, providing businesses with fantastic opportunities to access the best of Scotland’s data talent and education.
Training Events: There are 5 training events running through the week including Play and Work with Open Data, Deep Learning Workshop, R for Big Data and Big Data Demystified Executive Education.
Fringe Events: 12 unique events across Scotland: Exploring, debating and enabling data innovation including Smarter Tourism: Shaping Glasgow’s Data Plan, City Data Speculations, How Data Transforms Cities & Communities, Intro to CivTech® and Changing Lives with Data.
A number of invitation-only events will also take place at the Scottish Parliament and there will be an Executive Dinner during the week.
