Presentations, panel discussions and demonstrations centred on the themes of innovation, skills and sustainability; with delegates hearing from a range of key industry influencers.
Mark Farmer, Cast Consultancy director and chief executive and author of Modernise or Die, said: “It was great to be able to speak at this inaugural summit. I would like to applaud City of Glasgow College’s initiative and leadership in organising the event at what is a crucial time for the construction sector.
“The ability for industry and educationalist stakeholders to come together and have a joined up debate about some of the seismic shifts that are starting to impact how we work in construction, and our associated skills and training needs, is absolutely vital.
“There is plenty to reflect on, and hopefully starting this important discussion will put the Scottish construction industry on the front foot when it comes to driving a broader modernisation agenda.”

The breadth and depth of our speakers and delegates, which was measured and deliberate, gives a clear indication of the potential strength of the construction industry.
“And as our sector considers its future, we now have the opportunity to capitalise on the collaboration stimulated by this summit.”
The event also saw the launch of a new range of online educational and learning content specifically aimed at the construction industry.
Funded by CITB, the blended learning programme developed by BCTG Construct – a consortium of educators, industrialists, and designers – aims to transform the way that construction-based training programmes are delivered in the UK.
