The Centre of Innovation
for Financial Regulation
The FinTech Scotland initiative is set to establish a new collaborative centre of excellence focused on innovation in financial regulation. This effort aims to explore cutting-edge technologies to enhance regulatory efficiencies, revolutionise risk management, and shape the future of financial regulatory developments.
A partnership between the University of Strathclyde, University of Glasgow and FinTech Scotland will create the Centre for Financial Regulation. This centre aims to promote economic growth, job creation, productivity gains, and innovation in the FinTech and Financial Services sector. The Adam Smith Business School at University of Glasgow will contribute actionable research, skills, and education to design and implement research-informed professional education programmes.
Researchers will evaluate how companies and regulators can better plan, implement, and scale innovation in regulation and compliance within the FinTech and Financial Services sectors, with a focus on the Glasgow City Region. This research is part of a broader programme addressing Innovate UK’s innovation accelerator challenge for city regions. Combined with associated training in skills and education, this initiative aims to boost productivity and employment as the FinTech and Financial Services ecosystem integrates into the City Region.
Professor Eleanor Shaw, head of the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow“The opportunity to transform the regulatory landscape is remarkable and we are excited to work with partners across all sectors to deliver a collaborative centre of excellence for cutting edge developments in financial regulation.”
