Glasgow Leads in Transformative Technologies

with “thebeyond” Innovation Hub

At the forefront of Glasgow’s drive to become a global leader in transformative technologies such as AI, drones, and cleantech, is “thebeyond,” a groundbreaking initiative that promises to reshape the city’s technological landscape.

With a substantial £2.5 million investment from both public and private sectors, this state-of-the-art co-working and lab space will be established at SkyPark in Finnieston. Scheduled to support up to 100 companies by the end of 2024, “thebeyond” will specialise in industrial, lifestyle, health and sustainability technologies.

The project is a collaboration between the UK Government, Glasgow City Council, and the Smart Things Accelerator Centre (STAC), with backing from industry veterans from Dyson, Plexus, Meta, Blackberry, Motorola, and Volvo.

Paul Wilson, CEO and co-founder of STAC, envisions “thebeyond” as Europe’s largest hub for Smart Things and IoT, positioning Glasgow as a powerhouse in key future technologies and driving both innovation and international investment.

Glasgow’s momentum in Smart Things is already evident with local companies like Utopi, Beingar, iOpt, Krucial, Novosound, and Kingdom Technology making significant strides in various tech sectors. This collaborative effort aims to solidify Glasgow’s position as a leading hub for future technologies, fostering entrepreneurship and innovation to compete on the global stage.

“Glasgow has all the elements – talent, innovation, and a collaborative spirit – needed to lead in what is known as the ‘Era of Things’. We believe we are on the cusp of something extraordinary. From thebeyond tech companies will develop tomorrow’s technologies to compete in global markets.”
