The Built Environment and Asset Management (BEAM) Centre at GCU is to be officially launched next month.
Industry experts and stakeholders will be invited to the campus on September 19 for a launch event that will see them informed of the plans for the Centre as well as engaging and networking with fellow professionals and GCU academics.
Established in 2014, through a philanthropic gift, the Centre is headed up by Director Professor Rohinton Emmanuel and Deputy Director Professor Billy Hare, both Professors of Construction at GCU.
“The BEAM Centre is already involved in a wide range of projects addressing a number of challenges and we hope that engagement with industry and the transferring of knowledge will lead to further research opportunities,” Professor Hare said.
The Centre’s research focus is on maximising social, economic and environmental benefit through the effective development, use and revitalisation of the built environment and through engagement with the communities involved.
Professor Hare added: “The official launch will take the form of an industry workshop and brainstorm before a networking event where we aim to promote the BEAM Centre to professionals and highlight its potential as a centre for excellence in innovation, technology and sustainability.
“The Centre has huge scope for study and bringing together the Centre’s academic expertise and knowledge with researching industry problems will lead to a successful partnership.”
