Investors in Innovation is a universal standard that assesses the culture of innovation within an organisation.
Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Paul Little, said: “I am delighted that City of Glasgow College has been awarded Investors in Innovation. This leading edge Standard benchmarks our innovation capability and creativity.
“Our college strives to deliver innovative and unique learning and teaching techniques directly linked to industry needs and achieving this status confirms that we are right on track. The Assessors specifically highlighted our impressive ambitions, inspirational leadership and the volume of innovative practice across our college.”
Douglas Morrison, Curriculum Head for Building, Engineering & Energy, managed the assessment for the college: “This is fantastic recognition for the college, staff and our pioneering learning approach. Our Industry Academy model in particular was cited as an excellent example of innovation in action with its economic and social benefits evident in significantly increased student work experience, placement opportunities and guaranteed job interviews for hundreds of graduates.”
As well as validating innovation in terms of course design and long-term business strategies, the Investors in Innovation Standard also assesses how entrepreneurialism and creative thinking are encouraged amongst individual staff and students.
The Standard has been developed by the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange in consultation with the Innovation Council which is made up of leading business leaders representing all economic sectors.
