Stafford Railway Building Society (SRBS) will boost its climate and energy performance data through partnership with the Glasgow-based startup.
PropEco uses a variety of data-driven tools and services designed to facilitate the assessment and management of current and future climate risks. The partnership will extend beyond risk mitigation, as the two entities plan to collaborate on initiatives that support SRBS members.
“We are delighted to be working with SRBS, which has consistently demonstrated that it is both forward-thinking and fully engaged when it comes to modelling and developing its understanding of the impacts of climate change,” said Chris Hardman, co-founder and CEO of PropEco.
“We look forward to working with the team to identify further opportunities and deliver additional value for its Members.”
By integrating enhanced data from hundreds of sources, analytics, proprietary models, and technologies, PropEco offers a suite of products and services, including portfolio assessment tools, an interactive dashboard for property professionals, property reports, and an API.
This partnership comes on the backdrop of the active effort n the UK to make homes more energy efficient. According to a report by the Scottish Government, 47% of the homes in Edinburgh in 2021 received a C or below on their energy performance certificates rating system.
A Kingfisher report late last year described the UK’s housing stock as “among the least energy efficient in Europe, with UK homes losing heat up to three times faster.”
“With a nearly £448 bill gap between the most and least energy efficient homes, and homes responsible for around 20% of the UK’s emissions, tackling this challenge has never been more important,” read the report.
Speaking on the partnership, Chris Reid, finance director at SRBS, said: “Over the past six months, we have been working closely with PropEco to support our aim for a more comprehensive set of climate and energy performance data across a broad range of metrics.
“This is an area that will continue to evolve, and we are very pleased to be working with PropEco; in particular, the flexibility, responsiveness, and data coverage that PropEco offers really sets its solution apart. We look forward to building a successful partnership over the coming years.”
