Scottish and Glasgow universities are amongst the top universities in the world whose work is contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2021.
The rankings, now in their third year, focus on the dual issues of protecting the environment and addressing inequality through sustainable development. Institutions must submit data towards one compulsory category – SDG 17 Partnership for the Goals – and at least three further categories.
The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching; ranking includes 1,115 universities from 94 countries/regions.
