Applications to Scottish EDGE Round 11 will be accepted through the competition online portal until 6th September, 2017 at 2pm, requiring a completed application and a short video pitch. All applications will then be assessed by a number of independent, expert panels before being shortlisted to participate in a Scottish EDGE semi-final or the final of our subsidiary competition categories, namely Young EDGE or Wild Card EDGE.

Prizes of up to £100,000 will be awarded at a full day pitching Final on 14th Dec 2017. Additionally, one deserving business within the Science, Technology or Engineering sector will be awarded the special Higgs EDGE award, carrying a potential prize offering of up to £150,000

Since its inception in 2013, Scottish EDGE has had a huge impact on Scotland’s economy, with its alumni having generated an additional £57.23m in turnover, secured £55.17m in additional investment, and created 981 jobs. Round 10 served as a reminder of Scottish EDGE’s essential role in nurturing Scotland’s globally recognised entrepreneurial talent, with a total of £1.2 million awarded in grant and loan funding to 40 of Scotland’s most promising start-ups.

Announcing an exciting addition to this round, CEO Evelyn McDonald said; “the impact that Scottish EDGE has had on Scotland’s economy is well documented. What is less well documented, however, is its vast, multifaceted narrative as an organisation built upon the people connected to it, from applicants and winners, to supporters and the EDGE team.

“With the help of our Video Partners, 29 Studios, we aim to bring this EDGE story to life through an ambitious project titled ‘the Cutting EDGE’, which will transform EDGE 11 into a truly immersive video experience capturing all stages of the competition – from the unique perspectives of those who make the competition what it is. I can’t wait to see what exciting, emotional and inspirational stories we uncover”.
