A new website promoting Glasgow and the West of Scotland as a world-class science destination has gone live, with the aim of encouraging investment in the city region’s science sectors.

The online portal, the new website for Glasgow City of Science, is specially designed to encourage new investment and demonstrate the West of Scotland’s distinctive offer in science and innovation.

Designed and built by The BIG Partnership, the site contains a number of features which will help potential investors to seek out attractive, new investment opportunities across the West of Scotland.

The site provides a platform for entrepreneurs and innovators to showcase their business ideas through rapid pitching or ‘elevator pitches’. The City of Science team can direct users to relevant partner organisations while links to ‘Invest Glasgow’ provide quick access to business support and information on the region’s rich portfolio of commercial property.

Another purpose of the website is to highlight the diverse range of industry leading science and innovation taking place. It will act as a news-hub, allowing partners to post news on current developments and innovation in the sector, whilst blogs will contain colourful expert opinion pieces and case studies will showcase exemplar science and innovation projects.

The responsive design of the site makes it accessible across multiple platforms with its eye-catching design and overall visual flair making the website easy to navigate.

Speaking about the launch of the website, Dr. Susie Mitchell, Programme Director of Glasgow City of Science, said: “We hope the new site will showcase Glasgow and the West of Scotland’s distinctive offer for science. Acting as a common platform for science and innovation the site will support the region in driving new investment inwards.”

“Our focus was creating an easy to use online hub which promotes our many attributes while acting as a useful resource for organisation’s already established.

“Particular attention was paid to the website’s design, incorporating a responsive element and highly readable interface across each page ensuring the site looks fresh and easy to use.”

Glasgow City of Science is a partnership of over 50 organisations with a common ambition to work smarter together and raise the profile of Glasgow and the West of Scotland as a world class science destination.

Working in partnership, they are seeking to leverage the city region’s science and technology to boost sustainable economic growth and improve quality of life for residents.
