A Glasgow game studio is behind the next release in one of the world’s biggest video game franchises, highlighting the city’s growing influence in global games development.

Created by Screen Burn, a 30-person Glasgow-based developer, Silent Hill: Townfall is the team’s most ambitious project yet and forms part of the iconic Silent Hill series, which has sold millions of copies worldwide since its launch by Konami in 1999.

The game’s setting, the fictional town of St Amelia, was inspired by the Scottish fishing village of St Monans in the East Neuk of Fife  – which has a real-life population of just over 1,100 people.

Developers studied the village’s harbour, winding streets and distinctive sea fog to create an atmospheric environment central to the game’s storytelling.

The project reflects Glasgow’s strength in creative talent, with local designers, artists and developers contributing to a globally recognised franchise.

Set for release in 2026, the title positions Glasgow at the forefront of international games production, demonstrating the city’s ability to deliver major entertainment projects for worldwide audiences.
