Glasgow Caledonian University is delighted to announce that Professor Carl Schaschke has been appointed as the Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment.
Professor Schaschke joins the University from his current post of Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of West of Scotland, having previously held senior academic leadership roles at Abertay and Strathclyde universities.
Professor Schaschke is a chartered engineer with leading roles in professional accreditation, external examination and is also a reviewer for Athena Swan. The author of five books, including A Dictionary of Chemical Engineering published by Oxford University Press, Professor Schaschke has previously worked in the nuclear industry, had secondments in the oil industry and been an academic advisor for BBC’s Tomorrow’s World.
In accepting the role, Professor Schaschke said: “I am delighted to be joining such a progressive and forward-thinking institution, and look forward to working with colleagues and students in the School and across the University. Computing, engineering and the built environment have a major impact on our society and on our daily lives, and I look forward to working on strengthening the University’s links with industry to enable colleagues and students to continue to make a positive impact in the world in which we live and work.”
Professor Schaschke will join the university on Monday, May 23.
