She was welcomed by the university’s principal, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli; Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, senior vice-principal and head of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences; Dr Carol Clugston, chief operating officer for MVLS; and Ms Jane Grant, the chief executive of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

During the visit on Thursday, August 30, the Cabinet Secretary toured ICE and saw facilities including the 7 Tesla MRI Scanner and the MRI Coil laboratory.

Professor Dominiczak said: “It was a great pleasure to welcome the Cabinet Secretary and to outline in some detail the progress that is being made in precision medicine. Scotland is uniquely well placed to deliver major savings to the NHS and to provide more appropriate, timely and successful treatment to patients across a range of conditions and illnesses.

“We look forward to working very closely with the Scottish Government, the NHS, colleagues in other universities and with industry to deliver on the tremendous potential that Precision Medicine offers.”
