It’s hard to believe a whole month has passed since the University of Strathclyde’s annual Images of Research competition launched its 2018 exhibition as part of Engage with Strathclyde – the university’s flagship public engagement event. As the culmination of this year’s competition approaches, it’s now up to you to decide the Image of Research of 2018 by voting for your favourite category-winning image.

This year’s competition, Safeguarding today, securing tomorrow – and the resulting exhibition – highlight Strathclyde’s endeavours to address today’s global challenges and to enable society to adapt and advance.

Janine Capaldi, Images of Research co-ordinator, said: “The competition provides an opportunity for the university’s students, researchers and academics to showcase their diverse and impactful research in a fun and dynamic way. Brief explanations accompany the images, providing insight to the research behind them and some also have short digital stories, allowing the audience to further delve a little deeper.

“We hope the exhibition not only sheds light on the fascinating research being undertaken at the university, and the impact it can have on people’s lives, but also that it inspires the next generation of researchers.”

The exhibition is now embarking on a year-long tour taking in venues across Scotland and beyond. The next chance to catch it in Glasgow will be at Drygate Brewery from June 14 to 17, as part of the Glasgow Science Festival. The winners’ reception on the opening night is open to all so if you want to be one of the first to hear the overall winner announced (and enjoy some complimentary food and drink), please register here.
